THE BIRTH OF KARMA<br><br>
In the process of giving birth to a child, each push becomes an heroic
effort. You actually have to give birth to your child, which you want
very much to get out of your body. and you are making a definite
statement: "I am going to have this child. And I'm going to make it
come out of my body." This particular type of push that mothers
experience in labor is like the birth of karma. It is like the birth of
karma because the push to give birth to the world of passion, aggression,
or ignorance is accompanied by a sense of continuity. If you push and
give birth, then an extension of you continues. So you push not so much
because "I want to get rid of this child" but because "I
am going to create this new life out of my body. This particular child is
going to be my child; I'm going to be its mother." So there is a
sense of ownership, or sense of continuity. In other words: "This is
my world; I'm going to get into this, my world."<br><br>
